Plantation Shutter Options:
Our shutters are custom made to your specifications.
Choose your style from our many options:
Color/Finish
Acadia offers custom color matching. Though shutters can be painted any color, we usually match the shutter's color to that of the trim in your home. To do this, we ask that you provide us with a sample of the paint color.

Stained Shutters:
Acadia also offers stained basswood shutters. We offer a palette of 6 colors or we can custom match the stain color of shutters to that of a sample of stained wood.
One panel or two
Windows ranging in width from 2 feet to nearly 3 feet can be accommodated
with either one or two panels shutters.
Single panel:
A single panel can offer a clean, open look that allows maximum light to enter.

For windows wider than 28 inches, Acadia recommends 3.5” louvers.

Two panels:
Covering windows with two panels offer a more traditional look. Because each panels swing outward to the left and right, two panels are easier to open. Additionally, with two narrow panels, louvers lay against one another tightly when the louvers are closed, blocking the maximum amount of light

Hardware
Acadia offers a wide range of hinge colors to choose from for your shutters.
Hinges are typically matched to either the color the shutters are painted or to the door knobs or other hardware throughout your house.

Doors
Shutters can be mounted to doors to provide a consistent look throughout your home.
A shutter panel is built into a four-sided frame and this is secured to the door.

Divider rails

Divider rails partition shutter panels into sections that can be opened and closed independently.

For instance, a lower section may be closed to provide privacy while and upper section may remain open to let light in.

Split Tilt Rod

Acadia also offers a split tilt rod option: Panels are divided into two sections without a divider rail separating the upper and lower section.

Louver size
Louvers are the horizontal slats in shutter panels. Acadia offers 2.5 inch and 3.5 inch Louver sizes:
2.5” louvers:
2.5” louvers offer a slightly more traditional look.

Though they can be used in windows of any size. 2.5” louvers are recommended for older houses that have smaller windows.
3.5” louvers:
3.5” louvers offer a slightly more contemporary look.

Though they can be used in windows of any size, they are best suited to larger windows

Mounting Options:
There are two ways to mount shutters to your windows:
Frames and hanging strips

Hanging strips:
Hanging strips are narrow strips of wood secured to the left, right jambs on each window. Shutters panels are mounted to the hanging strips using and “L” shaped wrap-around hinge. Because the shutter panels are suspended in front of the hanging strips, the hanging strips are not visible unless the shutters are open.
Frames:
A frame surrounds the edge of the shutters panels and is typically secured to the existing trim surrounding the window. Frames provide a more finished look because they tie into the window trim. However, framed shutters cost more than hanging strips because framed shutters cover a larger area.
